I’m a member of Dacorum Triathlon Club where we are lucky to have Jo as our head coach. Her training sessions have a great mix of being both fun and challenging with a focus on injury prevention as well as hitting your goals - you will be worked hard and pushed when necessary but you will also be reigned in if you need to be.  As a person as well as on a coaching level, I have found Jo to be naturally approachable, empathetic and supportive. An example of this was when I had a frightening cold water swimming experience last year which massively knocked my confidence; Jo was great at helping me both rationalise the experience and find some coping strategies for the lake during the club open water training sessions. On race day when I felt nervous before the swim, it was her words of reassurance on text the day before that I repeated to myself as I headed down the pontoon…and I ended up getting one of my best swim times for a 70.3 that day! Thank you for everything you do for us as a club and as individual athletes! :-)

I joined DTC to help with my goal of completing my first triathlon to keep fit after deciding to stop playing football. With Jo's training and guidance I managed to complete my first three of varied distances in my first year.  I'm now also working with Jo independently to try and aim for faster times through in depth analysis and programming.

Jo’s approach to coaching is refreshing, fun and extremely informative. I have made more gains in the last year with her than I had over the previous three years combined.
